What is documented — and what isn't
Turnitin runs in ASU's Canvas for plagiarism detection. The provost's academic-integrity faculty resources advise instructors (no on-page date displayed; retrieved Aug 23, 2026): "Use plagiarism detection software (Turn It In) within Canvas and notify students in advance that this will be used." ASU's central learning-technology site describes the tool the same way, as "ASU's premier plagiarism detection tool" and a "sophisticated originality checker," and mentions no AI-writing-detection feature on that page (no on-page date displayed; retrieved Aug 23, 2026). No campus-wide statement enabling or disabling Turnitin's separate AI-writing-detection feature was located in this review. ASU's central learning-technology site publishes a page titled "Turnitin and AI Detection" (lx.asu.edu/turnitin-and-ai-detection). Opened in a browser on Aug 23, 2026 it returns an ASU error page reading in full: "Access denied — You are not authorized to access this page."
