Reproduced from the institution's own pages quoted below — potentially relevant official sources, not a determination of which one governs any case.
CU Denver's published sources on AI detection and academic integrity, quoted and linked below. IPEDS counts CU Denver and the Anschutz Medical Campus as a single administrative unit; the Student Conduct & Community Standards pages cited here serve that combined unit under cudenver.edu/ucdenver.edu. These are potentially relevant official sources, not a determination of which one governs any case — course syllabi and instructor-set rules may also apply. Confirm applicability with the institution. Any dates are quoted from the sources, not a deadline calculation performed for you. CU Boulder is a separate campus with its own first-party record, excluded independently in this collection; nothing here reflects on Boulder or is inferred from it.
Turnitin is confirmed for plagiarism checking; a named AI-detection tool is mentioned without a deployment statement
CU Denver's Teaching with Technology page (no on-page date; retrieved Sep 17, 2026) describes Turnitin only as an originality/plagiarism tool:
Source: Turnitin — Teaching with Technology. No AI-writing-detection feature of Turnitin is mentioned on this page or elsewhere in this review's sweep.
The Academic Integrity landing page for faculty states (no on-page date; retrieved Sep 17, 2026):
Source: Academic Integrity — Student Conduct. This names Pangram specifically, but as one example of "various" tools faculty can ask the office about — it does not itself state that Pangram (or any detector) is licensed, enabled, or deployed campus-wide, and no other page found in this review makes that statement either. It is recorded here for what it says, not stretched into a deployment claim the source does not make. The companion "GenAI and Academic Integrity" page (retrieved Sep 17, 2026) sets out cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, and falsification as GenAI issues and an "AI Assessment Scale" for instructors to set per-assignment expectations, but names no detection tool. Source: GenAI and Academic Integrity.
Named-vendor sweep (Turnitin, SimCheck, Originality, Copyleaks, iThenticate, GPTZero, Originality.ai, Winston AI, Crossplag, ZeroGPT, Packback, Grammarly Authorship, Honorlock, Proctorio, Respondus, Examity, plus Pangram as found above) and category sweep (Teaching Innovation and Program Strategy pages, Academic Integrity and GenAI pages, Academic Misconduct and AIC Hearing procedure pages) found no other AI-text detector named on cudenver.edu or ucdenver.edu.
What CU Denver's own pages say about how cases proceed
- Who may be present
- "A support person is not permitted to speak for, or on behalf of, the individual at any time," but "[w]ith permission from the meeting facilitator … an advisor or support person may make a statement and/or ask questions of the student to present relevant information." An advisor may be "a parent/guardian, partner, lawyer, staff or faculty from the University, mental health provider, and/or friend." Recording is not addressed anywhere in the pages reviewed. — Information for Advisors and Support People (no on-page date; retrieved Sep 17, 2026) · Information for Advisors and Support People
- What follows on the record
- Not stated in the sources reviewed. The Academic Misconduct, GenAI and Academic Integrity, AIC Hearing, and Advisors/Support People pages describe sanctions (including suspension and expulsion) and appeal but state no transcript notation, retention period, or disclosure provision; the Academic Misconduct page does state that a not-responsible finding "would not negatively reflect on the student's academic record." — Academic Misconduct (no on-page date; retrieved Sep 17, 2026) · Academic Misconduct
The two questions an adviser raises first, answered from this institution's own published documents — or recorded as not stated in them.
From the Academic Misconduct procedure page (no on-page date; retrieved Sep 17, 2026):
Where a case escalates, the Academic Integrity Committee (AIC) Hearing page (retrieved Sep 17, 2026) states the same preponderance standard applies — "The AIC Members will make their decision based on a preponderance of the evidence … in the case of a tie vote, the finding will be in favor of the student since the burden of proof resides with the faculty member" — and that a student may appeal an AIC decision on one of three grounds: "[a]pparent bias," "[a] failure to follow designated procedures that significantly impacted the outcome," or "[a]n assigned sanction that is largely disproportionate to the finding of responsibility." The page states no window in days for filing that appeal and adds: "Please be aware that appeal decisions are final." Source: AIC Hearing. What these quotations mean for any particular case is for the institution and its process to determine; they are reproduced so you can read the originals in context.

Revision history of this page
2026-09-17 — Page created. Priority A tranche 4, entry 129 (cold build, no prior CANDIDATES.md/procedure-facts.json research to reuse). CU Boulder is Excluded independently in this collection (2026-08-24, campus OIT page); no inference was drawn either way between campuses, and this entry's research and sources are entirely CU Denver's own. Detection: Turnitin confirmed deployed for originality/plagiarism checking only, with no AI-writing-detection feature mentioned on its own Teaching with Technology page. The Academic Integrity landing page for faculty states "[c]ontact the SCCS for information about various generative AI detection tools, such as Pangram" — Pangram is named, but the sentence offers to discuss options rather than stating one is licensed or deployed; treated as a named example, not a confirmed deployment, and not presented as a detector CU Denver is documented to use. Named-vendor sweep (Turnitin, SimCheck, Originality, Copyleaks, iThenticate, GPTZero, Originality.ai, Winston AI, Crossplag, ZeroGPT, Packback, Grammarly Authorship, Honorlock, Proctorio, Respondus, Examity, Pangram) and category sweep (Teaching Innovation and Program Strategy pages, the Academic Integrity/GenAI/Academic Misconduct/AIC Hearing procedure pages) found no other AI-text detector named. NOT DISQUALIFIED: no CU Denver page states that any detector is disabled or recommended against; this is a partial/ambiguous inventory rather than a clean absence or a clean deployment. Process captured in full from the Academic Misconduct and AIC Hearing pages: faculty-level meeting within three to five business days of notice; preponderance-of-the-information standard, stated explicitly at both the faculty and AIC-hearing stages, with the burden on the faculty member and ties resolved in the student's favor; sanction categories (academic, educational, advocacy, disciplinary) up to and including suspension or expulsion; AIC hearing on prior-violation, student appeal, or faculty request; three-ground appeal of an AIC decision (bias, procedural failure, disproportionate sanction) with no stated day-window and appeal decisions stated to be final. Accompaniment captured from the dedicated Advisors and Support People page: a support person "is not permitted to speak for, or on behalf of, the individual at any time" absent the facilitator's permission, and may be an attorney. NOT STATED IN THE SOURCES REVIEWED: recording of any meeting or hearing, transcript notation, record-retention period, or disclosure to a graduate program, employer, or licensing board — the Academic Misconduct page states only that a not-responsible finding "would not negatively reflect on the student's academic record," which is not a statement about a responsible finding's record treatment. OMBUDS FOUND AND ELIGIBLE: the CU Denver Ombuds Office serves "students, faculty and staff," described in its own words as confidential, independent, impartial, and informal. Office: Student Conduct & Community Standards, Student Commons Building, 1201 Larimer Street #2007, Denver, CO 80204, 303-315-7311, StudentConduct@ucdenver.edu — captured from the office's own contact block, repeated identically across every SCCS page fetched. Nothing paraphrase-pending. Traces to tools/packets/cudenver-packet.txt with zero failures; gated in tools/fidelity-gate.txt. Archive captures pending — not requested this pass (unattended scheduled run). Reviewer: Carrie Schluter (review confirmed 2026-09-17).
