Reproduced from the institution's own pages quoted below — potentially relevant official sources, not a determination of which one governs any case.

Dallas College's published sources on AI detection and academic integrity, quoted and linked below. Dallas College is a single, multi-campus accredited institution (formed by the 2020 consolidation of the former Dallas County Community College District's seven colleges), so its governing documents are district-wide: a Board of Trustees local policy (the Student Code of Conduct, FLB (LOCAL)) and a single Student Rights and Responsibilities Office that works through campus-level Student Conduct Officers. These are potentially relevant official sources, not a determination of which one governs any case — your course syllabus sets the specific AI rules for that class. Confirm applicability with the institution. Any dates are quoted from the sources, not a deadline calculation performed for you.

No AI-text detector is named as deployed at Dallas College

The college's own "Institutional Policies for Syllabi" page — distributed to every course syllabus and updated Aug 17, 2026; retrieved Oct 5, 2026 — states:

"Generative artificial intelligence (AI or GenAI) refers to software capable of creating new content, like text, images, or code. Because these tools are changing how we learn and work, every course will follow its own AI class policy." "To support course learning outcomes and align with Dallas College's AI Policy, your instructor will determine the appropriate level of AI use for your class," among three named options: "No Use," "Limited Use," and "Extensive Use." "All AI use must also align with the Student Code of Conduct policy on Scholastic Dishonesty. If you are unsure whether a tool or use case is allowed, check with your instructor before submitting your work."

The Board of Trustees' local policy this page cross-references, Student Code of Conduct, Artificial Intelligence — FLB (LOCAL), amended March 2026 — defines "Cheating" to include: "Unless expressly authorized by the Instructor, using technology, including artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-related devices, tools or systems, to complete course assignments, or exams or in a manner and/or to an extent not authorized by the instructor, including but not limited to for the purpose of creating, producing or submitting work that is misleading, deceptive, or presented so as to be construed as original work created, generated or produced by the user of the technology." No detection tool or mechanism is named anywhere in this provision; it defines prohibited conduct, not a means of identifying it. Sources: Institutional Policies for Syllabi; FLB (LOCAL), Student Code of Conduct, Artificial Intelligence (PDF). Your syllabus is therefore among the relevant sources for your own situation.

A named-vendor sweep of dallascollege.edu (Turnitin, SimCheck, Originality, Copyleaks, iThenticate, GPTZero, Originality.ai, Winston AI, Crossplag, ZeroGPT, Packback, Grammarly Authorship, Honorlock, Proctorio, Respondus, Examity) and a category sweep (the eCampus/Blackboard tools page, the Libraries' Faculty Resources guide on AI, and the Board's technology-resources policy) found no AI-text detector named as deployed. SafeAssign — Blackboard's built-in similarity-checking tool — is documented in eCampus faculty training materials, but no page located states that it includes, or that Dallas College has enabled, an AI-writing-detection feature. The Libraries' Faculty Resources AI guide discusses detection in general, cautionary terms — "AI use detectors are not foolproof or reliable. They can also produce false negatives and/or false positives" — and links third-party commentary, including Vanderbilt University's "Why We're Disabling Turnitin's AI Detector"; this is library-curated guidance about the subject, not a statement of what Dallas College itself has deployed, and is recorded here for completeness rather than as a detection finding.

What Dallas College's own pages say about how cases proceed

Who may be present
A student may "appear alone or with a representative or legal counsel," though "[t]he role of legal counsel is limited" (the page points to a separate board policy, FMA (LOCAL), for the limits, which was not itself reachable in this review). Whether a hearing or conference may be recorded is not stated in the sources reviewed. — Frequently Asked Questions About Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Rights and Responsibilities Office (page dated Jul 14, 2026; retrieved Oct 5, 2026) · Student Rights and Responsibilities FAQ
What follows on the record
"The student's transcript will show suspensions and expulsions. All other sanctions are confidential and will not appear on a student's transcript/records." The same page adds that a conduct file "is confidential within limitations, which may include appropriate College Official (administrators, faculty and staff) who have a legitimate educational reason," and that parents or guardians do not have access "unless the Student has signed a release of information form." · Student Rights and Responsibilities FAQ

The two questions an adviser raises first, answered from this institution's own published documents — or recorded as not stated in them.

The Student Rights and Responsibilities Office's FAQ page (page dated Jul 14, 2026; retrieved Oct 5, 2026) describes the process in the student's own voice:

"A student conduct meeting (or conference) is a meeting in connection with an alleged violation of the Student Code of Conduct where the Student Conduct Officer (SCO) provides the student with a copy of related policies and procedures, reviews the alleged conduct, determines responsibility and, if applicable, issues possible sanctions (or outcomes). If a student disagrees with the decision at this conference meeting, the student can request a formal hearing related to the misconduct." "A Notice to Appear is a letter sent to a student regarding an alleged violation of the Student Code of Conduct. The notice will direct a student to appear at a specific, date, time and place not less than five (5) business days after the date of the notice." "A student can appeal a conduct decision within five (5) business days from the date that the outcome notice letter which is emailed to the student."

No evidentiary standard — such as preponderance of the evidence — is stated on this page, and none was located on the Board of Trustees' Student Code of Conduct materials captured for this review. The catalog's own Code of Student Conduct page, which may carry a fuller statement of FLB (LOCAL) — including any hearing-committee and standard-of-proof provisions in its later sections, or in the related FLD (LOCAL) complaint policy — returned an empty body (HTTP 202) to every transport tried this pass and is not cited here, since nothing could be captured from it. The FAQ does state that a formal hearing gives the student the right "[t]o cause the committee to summon witnesses," "[t]o know the identity of each witness who will testify," and "[t]o appeal," and that the investigation may include "[r]eviewing available video footage (if available)" and "available text messages, emails and social media information." Source: Student Rights and Responsibilities FAQ. What any of this means for a particular case is for the institution and its process to determine.

Revision history of this page

2026-10-05 — Page created. FIRST COMMUNITY-COLLEGE PAGE BUILT ON THIS COLLECTION'S UNIVERSITY-PAGE FORMAT, per the owner-directed pilot (FA-D-20260911-02): built once the Built table reached 150 rows (170 at the time of this build). Several docket-shape decisions, flagged here for the owner's review of the format itself, not only its sources. (1) GOVERNING CODE SITS AT BOARD LEVEL, NOT CAMPUS LEVEL: Dallas College is one accredited institution since its 2020 consolidation of seven colleges, so the Student Code of Conduct is a single Board of Trustees local policy (FLB (LOCAL)) rather than a campus-specific code; there is no separate "campus policy" layer of the kind most built pages carry. (2) ONE OFFICE, MANY CAMPUSES: the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office is district-wide and names no central phone number or physical address of its own on the pages captured; it is reached by email, with campus-specific Student Conduct Officers identified individually on a Contact Us page (not captured into this page's evidence set, since no AI-detection or process fact specific to this review required it). (3) A STUDENT-FACING FAQ, NOT A CODE, CARRIES MOST OF SECTION 02: the clearest first-party statements on accompaniment, appeal and transcript treatment came from the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office's own FAQ page rather than from the Board policy text, which (in the portion captured) covers definitions and prohibited conduct but not hearing mechanics. All quotations retrieved this date from the dallascollege.edu pages linked beside them; source pages carried their own dates of Aug 17, 2026 (Institutional Policies for Syllabi) and Jul 14, 2026 (Student Rights and Responsibilities FAQ). DETECTION STATUS IS A GENUINELY EMPTY INVENTORY, NOT A DEACTIVATION: named-vendor sweep (Turnitin, SimCheck, Originality, Copyleaks, iThenticate, GPTZero, Originality.ai, Winston AI, Crossplag, ZeroGPT, Packback, Grammarly Authorship, Honorlock, Proctorio, Respondus, Examity) and category sweep (eCampus/Blackboard tools page, Libraries Faculty Resources AI guide, Board technology-resources policy) found no AI-text detector named as deployed; SafeAssign is documented for faculty training but no page states an AI-writing feature for it. This is an absence, not a documented disabling, so it is not a step-2 disqualification. CATALOG UNREACHABLE AND NOT LINKED: catalog.dallascollege.edu's Code of Student Conduct page (Modern Campus Catalog, the same platform family that has returned an empty, client-rendered body on this site's other pages) returned HTTP 202 with zero bytes to a plain curl fetch and to a prompted re-fetch; since nothing could be captured from it, it is not linked or cited on the page at all, rather than cited with nothing behind the link. The fuller FLB (LOCAL) text (hearing committee composition, standard of proof, recording) likely sits past the seven pages captured in the Board's own amendment PDF, which covers only the Definitions and Prohibited Behavior sections amended in March 2026; a direct download of the full FLB (LOCAL), FLD (LOCAL) and FMA (LOCAL) policy pages from the Board's TASB PolicyOnline host returned HTTP 403 to each guessed URL and was not pursued further as a workaround. Both absences are recorded as not located rather than inferred. DATE DIVERGENCE RECORDED, NOT RESOLVED: the FLB (LOCAL) amendment PDF's own page footers carry "DATE ISSUED: 11/19/2024" and "Adopted: 5/7/2024" throughout — stamps that predate the AI provision — while the Board's own "Recent Amendments" page lists this document under March 2026 as a current amendment; the AI-misuse cheating provision is read as currently in force on the strength of the Recent Amendments listing, and the stale internal date stamp is noted rather than resolved. OMBUDS/ADVOCACY: the URL path for the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office happens to be "/resources/advocacy/," but the office itself is the one that investigates and decides Code of Conduct allegations — it is not described anywhere as independent, confidential, or neutral, so it is not presented here as an ombuds or advocacy resource; a separate search for "ombudsperson" and "ombudsman" on dallascollege.edu found no office by that name. Nothing paraphrase-pending. Archive captures pending. Reviewer: Carrie Schluter (review confirmed 2026-10-05).
